Liz Claiborne Inc on Wednesday said it has agreed a deal with Knothe Apparel Group to license men's sleepwear, robes, loungewear and boxer shorts under the its Claiborne label.

The New York-based company said the new collection is expected to be in stores in November with the line "using new silhouettes and fabrics not currently seen in department stores".

President of licensing for Liz Claiborne, Barbara Friedman, commented: "The addition of the sleepwear category rounds out the assortment of extensions for the Claiborne brand.

"Knothe has an excellent reputation for top quality product and innovative ideas in this category. We are confident that our combined dedication to delivering superior product to the consumer positions us for a long and fruitful partnership."

Financial details were not released but Knothe also produces apparel under licence for Warner Bros, Disney, M&Ms, Peanuts and Anheuser-Busch Inc.
