Outerwear manufacturer and retailer, LL Bean, on Wednesday launched the Japanese version of its website using IBM's Websphere e-commerce platform and globalised with the help of US-based Basis Technology's software and engineering services.

The new site mirrors the look of its English counterpart and has among its features an interface so LL Bean's Japanese third-party order fulfillment partner can process web orders and support Japanese payment methods.

"We are very excited about the launch of our Japanese-language e-commerce site," said Zane Shatzer, managing director, Japan branch office at LL Bean. "Japan has always been an important market for us, and we are pleased that our many Japanese customers now have a site that speaks to them in their own language."
