Online workout wear store is to close its Internet site to focus on its brick-and-mortar retail establishments.

The Portland, Ore-based retailer has fired more than half its 95 employees and expects another round of layoffs just after the company closes its website and catalogue operations.

CEO Sue Levin says the cuts are in line with's new focus and interest in lowering costs. Levin also reported that the high cost of selling online, combined with low investor interest in dot-coms (due to continuous online shakeouts), forced the company's board of directors to change direction. The site will close by March 2001.
