Paris banking circles are speculating that French luxury goods group LVMH is interested in buying Prada Holding's stake in Rome fashion house Fendi.

Fendi is 51 per cent controlled by Bernard Arnault and Prada chief executive Patrizio Bertelli via the LVP Net joint venture, while the Fendi family holds the remaining 49 per cent.

Quoted in Il Sole, Bertelli says he has never spoken to Arnault or any other top manager from LVMH about such an operation. But he adds that if he is offered a figure which would allow him to generate good capital gains, then he might consider selling his 25 per cent stake.
