The Indian Rayon-acquired Madura Garments has announced major expansion plans into the next financial year.

Around 200 urban centres in India are set to benefit from the plans. The company has increased its retail trade space in the domestic market by 40 per cent in the current financial year.

Madura Garments president, Prakash Nedungadi, has said that its retail presence may grow 40 per cent in 2001-2002.

India Rayon bought Madura Garments in January last year and since then, has concentrated on retailing and sprucing up supply chain and product innovation.

The company has made substantial investments and set up shops like Planet Fashion, Trouser Town and Peter England Megastore.
