Indian Rayon's Madura Garments division is extending its global reach via local trouser brand San Frisco.

If plans take off, San Frisco would be the fourth Aditya Birla brand to go international. Last year, Indian Rayon acquired global rights to the to Louise Phillipe, Peter England and Allen Solly labels from fashion giant Coats Viyella Plc.

San Frisco was recently launched in the Middle East, and Madura is now looking at other potential markets. Madura's marketing vice president, M Vasanth Kumar, said that a feasibility study has been undertaken for the brand in certain countries, and that the company was currently "scouting for partners to license our brand in Russia." It  is also considering extending San Frisco - a youth brand - into denims.

Madura Garments accounts for over 25 per cent of Indian Rayon's business. For the financial year 2000-2001, revenues were up 42 per cent to Rs 325.5 crore.
