The organisers of UK sourcing expo Make it British have outlined plans for the first virtual event, set to take place later this month.

Make it British Live! Online is designed to gather together the clothing, textile and homeware industry to find out more about manufacturing in the UK. Along with the virtual expo there will be a series of talks, workshops and networking sessions over the course of the event which will run from 24-25 September.

Due to be hosted on the Accelevents platform, participants with a virtual booth will be able to live chat with exhibitors, watch videos about their company and read about their services, in addition to booking video meetings with exhibitors which will be held within the event platform.

Among the exhibitors are Bureau Veritas, Cashs Apparel Solutions, Fabrika, Harris Tweed Hebrides, Lochcarron of Scotland, and Something Wicked.

A raft of trade shows and fairs have been cancelled or postponed on the back of health and travel concerns related to the coronavirus pandemic, encouraging organisers to consider virtual and other digital alternatives.

Among those that have previously held virtual events are Apparel Textile Sourcing (ATS) Trade Show and denim trade show Kingpins.

Last week, Kingpins spin-off Transformers Foundation said it will virtually present the next edition of its educational conference for fashion students, Transformers ED.
