Atlanta-based Mallen Industries, Inc and management of United Knitting have successfully completed the transaction to purchase United Knitting, Inc from Dyersburg Corporation.

"This acquisition enables United Knitting to re-emerge as the leader in specialty stretch knit fabrics, and return to the original focus of the company which was founded in 1982," states Peter Mallen, chairman, Mallen Industries, Inc.

"Our goal is to lead the industry in product development and expand the potential of both companies, by introducing products at UKI that will complement the specialty components offered by Mallen," says Jerry Miller, president, United Knitting, Inc.

The management team, along with the dedicated support and manufacturing staff, comprises primarily United Knitting veterans, assuring continuity of daily operations.

Jerry Miller, resumes the role of president, a position he held earlier with Dyersburg. Margaret Schenck, a partner in the original UKI, rejoins the company, as vice president of Operations.

Maura Buckley, continues as vice president of Sales, with responsibility for the unified sales and marketing effort. Sales representatives are located in Los Angeles, Miami, North Carolina and the NY/Metropolitan area.

Jennifer Wey, formerly of Anthropologie, has joined United, as stylist, reporting to Buckley.
