Spanish women's fashion chain Mango has opened a 24,000 square metre distribution centre in Parets del Valles, Barcelona, that will source folded apparel, the company announced today (19 February).

The Centro Dinamico de Distribucion (CDD) as the facility is called, cost EUR45m to build and will process product five to seven times faster than rival distribution centres, Mango said.

It will process 670 boxes or 30,000 items per hour, it added.

Mango said the centre will store and distribute 77% of the apparel the company sells in five continents.

The CDD, which will take over an older site in Mangos' headquarters in Palau-solita I Plegamans, will generate new jobs and boost enterprise efficiencies at Mango, which continues to expand aggressively around the world.

The chain hopes to open 150 stores this year to boost its count to 1,379.
