Retail software specialist Maple Lake has launched a new and improved version of its QuickAssortment merchandise planning solution.

The launch comes after the US company ran a project with a leading Swedish retailer, as well implementing the new software in the US with Aeropostale and Rue21.

Maple Lake said the new version had been developed because of increasing demand from retailers for IT systems that can cope with planning profitable ranges for stores and other channels, including online, wholesale and international operations.

“With the impact of the economic downturn and extremely tough competition on the high street, retailers are increasingly looking towards developing their assortment planning capabilities across all channels,” said Bob Jolley, group commercial director.

“There’s also far greater emphasis on maintaining profitability with tight cost controls, efficient inventory management and a growing need for financial analysis these days.”
