Luxury brand Marc Jacobs International Llc has purchased a Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) system from software firm Freeborders.

According to designer Marc Jacobs, the system will help the company to shrink product development cycle times and create new supply chain efficiencies.

"Our original line and secondary line, Marc By Marc Jacobs, have an amazing following," he said.

"We expect Freeborders solutions and services to help us revolutionise our development processes so that we can speed high quality offerings to market and turn on a dime to make changes to our lines and continue to intrigue consumers."

The Freeborders PLM system is also utilised by apparel companies Gap, Liz Claiborne and Target.

"We call upon our experience to help more than 350 top retail brands every day to improve product development while they enhance the quality of their products," Freeborders co-CEO Ramsey Walker said.

"We look forward to helping Marc Jacobs accelerate creative concepts, speed product delivery, and stay on the cutting edge of fashion."
