Fast Retailing has attributed sales gains in its Japanese Uniqlo stores during March to consistently warm weather.

The company said that March same-store sales were up 23.1%, while sales in its own stores grew 24.4%. Total Japanese sales, including online, increased 22.9% during the month.

It said the sales grew on "consistently warm weather and strong sales of spring garments including bottoms and AIRism brand spring/summer innerwear".

During the month, it opened four Uniqlo stores and closed six outlets.
