Italian fashion group Mariella Burani on Friday posted a 513 per cent leap in first half profit to 7.7 million euros before extraordinary items and third parties amid a 19.4 per cent jump in consolidated sales to 130.3 million euros from the year-ago period.

The company, which produces luxury apparel and leather accessories under its own brand name and under licence, said in a statement operating profit soared 141 per cent to 8.5 million euros from 2001.

It added it sees a full-year turnover of 280-285 million euros as it reaps the rewards of an expanded distribution network and more apparel lines.
