Giambattista Valli and Mariella Burani Fashion Group have signed an five-year exclusive license agreement.

Under the agreement Giambattista Valli Pret-à-porter collections will be produced and distributed internationally by Mariella Burani. The deal was struck with Giambattista Valli Paris, headquarted in Paris, France, yesterday (7 July).

The license will commence with the Pre Fall/Winter 2010 collections, to be designed by Giambattista Valli, produced in Italy, and distributed internationally by Mariella Burani.

The collections are currently distributed in over 220 locations in 42 countries world-wide.

A statement said Giambattista Valli holds complete financial control maintains the artistic direction of the collections.

Valli said: "I am honoured and enthusiastic about this new agreement with MBFG. The group's international reputation, stemming from years of experience in developing top quality brands, supports my conviction that they are the ideal partner for the further expansion of our creative universe.

"I am sure that the 'made in Italy' network behind MBFG will permit both Giambattista Valli Paris and MBFG to grow, without compromising either my artistic or financial independence which remain at the base of my entrepreneurial and design vision."

Giovanni Burani, CEO of Mariella Burani, said: "We consider Valli one of the most interesting luxury designers today. His creative talents, combined with his unique vision have, without a doubt, provided a new concept of contemporary luxury.

"This license agreement lays the foundation for what we expect to be a long term relationship with Valli and we will put our extensive know-how at is complete disposition. More specifically, we have high expectations for this prestigious project and we intend to promote, develop, and sustain its growth."
