Sportswear and athletic footwear giant Reebok International Ltd on Wednesday named Martin Coles president and chief executive officer of its flagship Reebok brand after the resignation of David Perdue who quit to join Pillowtex Corp.

Reebok, which generated sales of $3 billion in 2001, said in a statement that Coles joined the firm as executive vice president of global operating units in December after serving five years as general manager of Nike's European business.

"Reebok is a brand which continues to have significant growth potential in every region of the world," said Jay Margolis, president and COO of Reebok International Ltd.

Martin's management style and global experience, particularly in the US and key international markets such as Europe and Asia, in product, sales, marketing and general management will provide the critical leadership needed to fuel our continued growth."
