MAS Active, part of the Sri Lankan based MAS Holdings, is to implement the Fastreact production planning and control system to help manage greater product complexity and dramatically shorter lead-times across its 12 production facilities.

Functions include both capacity and critical path management, working with and interfaced to its SAP business system.

Mr Shirendra Lawrence, managing director, said the company needed to replace its existing "excessively manual methods," and that the complex nature of its products required a solution that "could cope with multi-level planning, also multi-stage and multi-component processing, including our extensive printing and embellishment requirements."

He added: "In addition, the solution needed to cope with either centralised or decentralised processes, also planning 'live' across multiple locations, yet remain easy to use, responsive and flexible."

MAS Active makes sports and active fashion wear for brands like Nike, Gap, Adidas and Victoria's Secret.

It has a manufacturing base of some 12 facilities, 10 in Sri Lanka, and 2 in India, and employs over 14,000 people. The division makes around 25m garments a year within its Sri Lankan facilities alone.
