Mattel India, the fully owned subsidiary of US multinational toy company Mattel Inc, will launch its Barbie (girls) and Hot Wheels (boys) brands of children's clothing by summer.

Hot Wheels was launched 1992, but bombed, and had been discontinued in India in 1998. It has been now relaunched. Mattel is in talks with textile companies for sourcing the apparel.

The Barbie range will include leisure and casuals for girls aged 5-10 years such as t-shirts, skirts, and dresses.

Mattel has a factory in Nagpur, and ten contract manufacturers.
