The May Department Stores Company (NYSE: MAY) today reported preliminary net retail sales of $1.35bn for the four-week period ended November 25, 2000, a 6.7 per cent increase over $1.27bn in the similar period last year. Store-for-store sales increased 2.8 per cent. Sales for the first 10 months of fiscal 2000 were $10.86 billion, up 4.1 per cent over $10.44bn during the first 10 months of fiscal 1999.
