Men's clothing producer and retailer Blackberrys on Wednesday announced plans to enter the women's apparel market.

The company, which was formed in 1991 and is best known for its Khakis, also revealed it plans to open more outlets in eastern and southern India.

"After our store's success in New Delhi, Mumbai and Chandigarh, Blackberrys has opened its first store in Bangalore and we plan to set up three more by the end of this fiscal," said Shiv Raj Kumar, the company's head of retail operations.

He added: "The exclusive stores enhance our brand value. Our stores are our surrogate advertising. In our stores the focus is more on marketing than hard core selling and these stores are the most visible brand signage."
