Switzerland’s largest retailer Migros is implementing product lifecycle management, global sourcing and vendor collaboration software at its buying office in Asia to support its growth in direct sourcing.

The goal is to help “unify our sourcing process and setup the operation for scalability and efficiency to meet the demands of the continuing growth,” explains Sacha Waegeli, managing director of Migros (Hong Kong) Ltd.

“We also are expecting lead time benefits as a result of our automation.”

Migros operates Switzerland’s largest supermarket chain and other retail outlets including Globus department stores, and more than 95% of the items in its stores are under its own brands.

“With private label being our core business, Migros is continually looking for ways to streamline product development, enhance innovation and increase speed to market,” Waegeli adds.

The company’s Asia buying network includes subsidiaries in Hong Kong, Shanghai and Shenzhen, where Core Solutions’ CBX PLM, Sourcing and Order Management modules are being rolled out.

Migros (Hong Kong) Ltd. will use the CBX to source apparel, hardgoods and food products and drive improvements in operational efficiencies and cost of goods.
