Fashion store group Miller's Retail has posted a record $23.55 profit after seeing a 92 per cent jump in full-year profits.

And the company, which earlier this year vehemently denied it was planning a bid for failed discount department store, Harris Scarfe, is eyeing up new markets.

High on the agenda is children's wear followed by shoe stores for Miller's, the fastest growing retail group in Australia.

Managing director Ian Miller said the record profit was an outstanding result despite difficult conditions in the retail market.

Shares in the group surged to a record high yesterday, rising 15c to $6.45.

The company is also eyeing up business opportunities in Western Australia.
