Pakistan's Commerce Minister, Abdul Razak Dawood, is expected to visit the US in the next few days in a bid to win the release of millions of dollars worth of textile exports that have been detained by customs officers.

Up to 150 containers carrying textiles and garments were seized by customs officers at several US ports last month after they detected over-shipment in several "hot cake" categories, including, category 666-S, 666-P, 360 and 361.

Exporters are now faced with huge losses and with having to pay up to $3,000 per container to shift the goods to a bonded warehouse in order to save them from being auctioned by customs officials.
