Synthetic materials used in party going clothing are being blamed for many of the injuries sustained by victims of the New Year's party fire in Holland.

The flammable synthetics used in making party dresses and evening gowns melted onto the skins of the wearers leaving scald wounds across their bodies.

The incident has lead to calls from Dutch Ministers to the textile industry to tighten up regulations on fire safety standards, particularly with regard to children's pyjamas.
