Men's wear business Moss Bros Group reported a full-year profit rise but said current trading conditions were "challenging".

Pre-tax profit was GBP6.7m (US$12.53) compared to GBP5.7m last year, while same-store sales grew 2.5%.

For the first 16 weeks of the current year, same-store sales grew 1.5%.

"The company remains focused on producing profitable sales growth in the current year," chairman Keith Hamill said.

The company has opened five new Moss stores and one Hugo Boss store since the start of the year.

Moss Bros also said Bob Marsh will become an independent non-executive director on 25 May.

Marsh is managing director of SB Capital Europe and has held senior executive positions with Mothercare, Sears and Jaeger.

Michael Gee and Peter Moss will leave the board of directors on 31 January next year, the company added.
