Troubled maternity wear and baby apparel chain Mothercare Plc will name its new chief executive before the end of next month, it was reported on Wednesday.

According to the Financial Times, the company is believed to favour Terry Green, a former chief executive of retail giant Bhs, for the role which was suddenly vacated by Chris Martin earlier this summer.

The paper says Mothercare chairman Ian Peacock will hold top-level talks with shareholders to discuss who should take over the role before the appointment is announced.
