Catalogue and internet home shopping company N Brown posted a 5.5% increase in pre-tax profits for the six months to 28 August, with sales rising thanks to a  strong ecommerce showing.

The UK company has high hopes for the US launch of its Simply Be brand, for which the first orders are now coming through, and added that positive trends had continued during the first six weeks of its second half.

“This is another good performance, benefiting from the strong growth in online sales, the expansion of Jacamo and Marisota, and the acquisition of Figleaves and High and Mighty,” said chief executive Alan White.
