NanoHorizons Inc, the maker of SmartSilver nanoscale antimicrobial additives for the textile industry, has raised $6.7m in a second round of funding and named a new chairman and CEO to oversee its expansion.

David A Woodle joins from C-COR Incorporated, a global communications equipment supplier.

The company has also named one of its founders, Dr Daniel Hayes, as president, COO, and member of the board of directors.

NanoHorizons' SmartSilver brand provides bacterial control in a variety of products, including natural and synthetic fibres and fabrics.

"With this latest round of funding, NanoHorizons is in a solid position to grow and become a leading antimicrobial brand provider," David Woodle said in a statement.
