Nautica Enterprises Inc has announced that the company's licensing division, Nautica Apparel Inc, has expanded its license agreement with California-based Apparel Ventures, who currently holds the women's swimwear license, to produce a line of girl's swimwear.

The Cruise 2002 collection will be the first girl's swimwear collection produced by Apparel Ventures for Nautica.

"Consolidating both of our swimwear licenses, girl's and women's, makes good business sense," said Nautica designer and founder David Chu. "Over the last two seasons, the Nautica women's swimwear business has consistently ranked in the top three designer brands at retail. With this kind of proven track record, we feel that it is the right time to bring Apparel Ventures on board for girl's. This move is synergistic and will allow us to capitalise on our combined strengths."

The Nautica Girl's swimwear collection will mirror closely the flirty, feminine style of the Nautica Blue Collection that debuted late last year. The girl's line will feature floral prints, fresh colours and whimsical designs. Product is expected to ship by the end of October of this year.
