Nautilus Footwear has announced the promotion of Wayne Elsey to the position of chief executive officer/president.

The appointment has come after Nautilus Footwear has seen a growth rate of 260% over its 1999 sales figures, and hopes remain high that the trend will continue with the news that they have secured national and international distribution channels including powerhouses WearGuard, UTY, AirGas, Goliath, Bastad and Lehigh Safety Shoes.

Elsey joined the company in 1998 as equity position and president, before which he held senior positions at EJ Footwear, Iron Age, Lake of the Woods and Stride Rite Corporation.

Wayne Elsey said: "It is exciting to be on the point here because Nautilus itself is on the leading edge of the most important transition in the safety footwear industry".

"We've said it all along, good footwear not only protects the foot from harm, it protects the entire body. The safety industry at large is beginning to recognise that as we provide excellent shock absorption and support we can reduce fatigue and injury throughout the body," he said.
