APLF Ltd, organiser of a number of Hong Kong based leather and accessories trade fairs, is to launch its first event in India next spring targeting the country's footwear industry.

The new Footwear Materials Manufacturing & Technology fair (fMM&T) will take place in New Delhi, from 8-10 May 2009, and hopes to tap into India's US$5bn footwear market, which is growing at around 10% a year.

It is aimed at manufacturers of footwear, leather/non-leather garments, handbags, leather goods and travelware - as well as importers and distributors of leather and synthetic material components and accessories, designers, brand owners and product developers.

Exhibits will span the full manufacturing spectrum and will include suppliers of leather and materials, components, threads and adhesives, sophisticated shoe making assembly line machinery and CAD/CAM software.

Over 50 members of the Indian Footwear Components Manufacturers Association (IFCOMA) have agreed to participate and there will also be exhibitor delegations from Brazil, China, Hong Kong, Italy, Pakistan and Taiwan.

The new trade fair is being organised in association with the Indian Footwear Components Manufacturers Association (IFCOMA) and the CLE (Council for Leather Exports).

It will join the line-up of trade shows already staged by APLF Ltd, which include Materials, Manufacturing And Technology (MM&T), Fashion Access, and Prime Source Forum.
