Next year’s World Sports Forum event will focus on “Entering and Exploring new Markets”, debating the latest sourcing and demographic trends.

Held at ISPO Munich on 4 February, the free event will also look at emerging and niche markets and the prospects for the coming decades.

First keynote speaker Dr Haico Ebbers, Professor of International Economics at Nyenrode Business University in the Netherlands, will present the economic, cultural, political and technological faces of globalisation, charting the transition of emerging markets towards a consumption-driven society.

Dr Peter Rinnebach, who is responsible for the Product Development and Sourcing Competency Center at Kurt Salmon Germany, will discuss how flexibility, transparency, process and technical integration will impact sourcing for the sports and apparel industry.

He said: “While some years ago successful sourcing for apparel and outdoor meant realising a good price-performance ratio and gross margin, today’s supply chain faces a variety of additional challenges: speed of innovation, demand volatility, growth of multichannel, increasing internationalisation, as well as increased consumer expectations regarding ecological and social standards.”

Meanwhile, just-style managing editor Leonie Barrie will offer an update on emerging sourcing markets, and potential alternatives to China.

Finally, Dhyana van der Pols, head of textile innovation and manufacturing at the World Federation of the Sporting Goods Industry (WFSGI), will give an insight on exploring non-traditional and niche markets for export growth.
