Timberland is unveiling a new advertising campaign to coincide with the Beijing Olympics, entitled "Podium".

The television, online and print campaign, designed by ad agency Leagas Delaney, is designed to "celebrate the excitement and exhilaration of being in the outdoors", according to the clothing and footwear retailer.

A 60-second TV spot is making its debut in key markets during the Olympics, including China and the US.

Other markets, including the UK, Italy, France and Japan, will see the ad after the Olympics.

The spot follows a single hiker's ascent up a mountain to find his "personal podium" at its summit. Additional television commercials and print ads will follow later in the year.

"The outdoors is, and always has been, a fundamental part of Timberland's DNA," said Carol Yang, Timberland vice president of global marketing.

"Underscoring the fact that Timberland is born of the outdoors, the new campaign celebrates the environment and what it means to experience the outdoors."
