Textile research and development company, Optimer Performance Fibers, has named Barry Garlick as its new president where he will assume responsibility for the worldwide sales, marketing and advertising.

In a statement, the Delaware-based company said Mr Garlick had been promoted from his position of vice president of marketing and business development for the western US and Asia, a role he had occupied since November 2000.

Optimer CEO John Moore commented: "Barry has been pivotal in Opitmer's growth during the past two years and he continues to make enormous contributions to our company. His expertise in the apparel industry adds a vital dimension to the future of our business.

Optimer was founded in 1993 and in the past nine years its teams of scientific staff have been credited with more than 100 patents and developments, including the moisture-transporting performance fabric known as dri-release.
