Reebok International Ltd has promoted executive vice president David Perdue to president of the Reebok brand, effective from Jauary 1, 2001.

Chief executice officer Paul Fireman will remain in his role as chairman and CEO of the Reebok Corporation, which includes the Reebok Brand, The Rockport Company, Ralph Lauren Footwear and Greg Norman Collection.

Perdue, 51, joined Reebok in September 1998 as senior vice president of global operations, and was promoted to executive vice president in July 1999.

Before joining Reebok he worked as a consultant with Kurt Salmon Associates, where his clients included adidas, Bally, Brown Shoe Company, Etonic, Johnston & Murphy, Levi Strauss and Wolverine.

After 14 years with KSA, Perdue held several corporate executive positions, including senior vice president of Asian Operations for Sara Lee, where he was based in Hong Kong (1992-94) and senior vice president of operations at Hagger Inc (1994-98).

Paul Fireman said: "David's extraordinary contributions to the continued renewal of the Reebok brand combined with his many years of operational experience around the world make him uniquely qualified to lead the Reebok brand.

"David's demonstrated leadership internally and his wealth of experience in sales, manufacturing, marketing and strategic planning have earned him the respect and trust of our employees and the retail community around the world.

"He has worked tirelessly and selflessly to bring the vitality back to our brand and return Reebok to the leadership position it once held. David has earned this promotion and I am confident that he is the right person to take the reign and lift this global brand to new heights," continued Fireman.
