China's largest shoemaker is looking to expand its business with the building of a new production and export base.

The Shanghai Yongxu Shoes Industry Co Ltd, a subsidiary of the Jiangsu Senda Group, has undertaken the project to increase its levels of exports.

The company will be looking to 24 production lines into the new unit, increasing the new units manufacturing output to 16 million pairs of shoes each year, 80 per cent of which will be exported.

The first phase of the project requires 360 million yuan ($43.54m) in investment and the company are hoping to complete the project October this year.

If all goes to plan then the company will see its total output rising to around 25 million pairs of shoes a year, making it one of the largest shoemakers in the world.
