Women's fashion retailer New York & Company Inc has appointed James Eagen as an independent director to its board.

Eagen will also be a member of the audit committee. He previously served as managing director of Investcorp International, an alternative asset management firm, from 1998 to 2008.

"With more than 40 years of business experience, Jim brings a wide range of strategic, operational, and governance qualifications and skills to our company. We particularly look forward to benefitting from Jim's significant financial expertise," said CEO Gregory Scott.

Eagen also serves as director of management services provider PHH Corp, where he is non-executive chairman of the board and chairman of the audit committee. In addition, he serves as a director of privately-held women's apparel retailer Dots and Thermadyne Technologies.
