French men's and women's fashionwear chain, Newman, has appointed Eric Labaume as its chairman and chief executive.
Labaume, 54, previously headed the Jean Paul Gaultier group, a post he left in July this year. He has also held senior positions at  Ines de la Fressange and Balmain.
Recent developments at Newman have focused on international expansion. Having opened eight boutiques in China in the space of a year, last month saw the company announce the opening of a 180-sq-m flagship store in the centre of Shanghai.
Newman's range also includes a collection of children's clothes under the Miniman brand.
