David Keens, the finance director of UK retailer Next, has announced his decision to retire from his post next year.

After 28 years of service with the retail group, Keen will step down after Next's results in March 2015. He was appointed to the board in 1991 and has served in his current post for 23 years.

The board said it intends to appoint Amanda James as his replacement. She has been with the group for 18 years and has led the management accounting and commercial finance team since 2005. She was appointed commercial finance director in 2009 and to her current position of brand finance director in 2012.
