Sporting goods firm Nike has named Dave McTague as CEO of its Cole Haan brand.

McTague will succeed Jim Seuss, current CEO of Cole Haan, who has decided to leave the company. He will join Cole Haan on 4 January 2010.

"We appreciate Jim's leadership at Cole Haan as he has worked to position Cole Haan as a leading, premium brand in the marketplace," said Eunan McLaughlin, president of Nike Affiliates.

"Over the past several years, Cole Haan has focused on reinvigorating product creation and improving consumer connectivity. We continue to view Cole Haan as a complement to the Nike portfolio with opportunities for long-term growth."

Seuss will work with McTague to transition their roles until the beginning of the New Year, a statement said.

Prior to his most recent role as executive vice president of partnered brands for Liz Claiborne, McTague served as president of Converse Apparel from 2005-2007.
