Athletics goods maker and retailer Nike has distanced itself from rumours it is forming partnerships with JJB Sports and JD Sports ahead of the likes of Sports World in the UK market.

A spokesperson for Nike UK told just-style that each outlet is considered separately before being stocked with its products.

He said: "We have a distribution policy in place with all of our retail partners, irrespective of who they are. This is a scorecard system depending on how the brand is represented, which influences the level of Nike product it is able to sell.

"This is applicable to all retailers equally; it is fair and above board."

The UK's Financial Times newspaper said that a new brand management campaign by Nike and Adidas meant discount sportswear chain Sports World could miss out.
Adidas' UK representatives were not available for comment when contacted by just-style today (24 November).
