Nicholas Athanasakos has been promoted to the position of vice president of Nike's US supply chain in one of four vice president appointments at sportswear giant Nike USA Inc.

Athanasakos, the group's director since July 2003, joined Nike in 1994 as apparel operations manager in the European distribution centre in Laakdal, Belgium.

Peter Kolsky has also been named vice president of US Apparel and Nike Team Sports. Kolsky, who has been serving as the general manager of these two businesses since December 2003, joined Nike in 1984 as manager of Graphics, Space Planning, and Video and Trade shows.

Craig Cheek, currently serving as general manager of US Footwear, is to move to the position of vice president of US Footwear. Cheek, who has been with Nike for 15 years, originally joined the company as account executive in Southern California.

Julia Law, previously senior vice president of human resources at McKesson Corporation's Pharmaceutical Group, will take on the position of VP (human resources) for the US region, effective immediately.

Law takes over from Oscar Cardona, who is moving to Nike's Europe, Middle East and Africa region to become the vice president of EMEA HR.
