Footwear, apparel, sunglasses and accessories maker Oakley Inc (NYSE:OO) on Tuesday said it remains "very comfortable" with the current consensus estimate for its fourth quarter earnings.

"Based on favorable sales trends through November, we remain very comfortable with the current First Call analyst consensus estimate of $0.11 per diluted share for the fourth quarter ending December 31, 2000," COO Link Newcomb said in a statement.

The Foothill Ranch, Calif-based company earned 8 cents per share in the fourth quarter of 1999.

Newcomb also said the company is pleased with the level of orders for its spring footwear and apparel and expects an increasing contribution from product categories other than sunglasses in 2001. The company expects to report final fourth quarter results on February 14, 2001.

Shares of Oakley closed at $19-1/16 on the New York Stock Exchange Monday, well above a 52-week low of $5-5/16 and below a 52-week high of $22-7/16.
