House of Fraser online sales soared 31.1% in the quarter

Department store retailer House of Fraser saw like-for-like sales climb in the third quarter, boosted by its online business and the launch of new technology in stores.

Like-for-like sales in the three month period edged up 0.8% on last year resulting in cumulative like-for-like sales growth of 2.5% for the year to date, the retailer reported today (11 December).

Further enhancements to the group's online service, including the launch of a new digital in-store concept in Edinburgh and the trial of a "queue-busting" check-in system for 'buy and collect' customers, all helped drive sales.

Online revenues surged 31.1% in the quarter, resulting in cumulative online sales growth for the year to date of 46.2%.

The retailer posted a gross profit margin of 36.8%, up 180 basis points on last year. In the year to date period, gross margin was at 34.9%.
