Children's clothing firm OshKosh B'Gosh Inc on Tuesday revealed plans to move its design team to New York City as it looks to give its fashion department a makeover.

The company said in a statement it hopes the action will allow it to mix the trendy fashion of the Big Apple's SoHo district with the traditional styles created at its headquarters in Wisconsin.

To lead the new design initiatives, OshKosh has appointed Mirian Lamberth to the newly created position of vice president - product design, effective immediately. She joins from Gap Inc where she was vice president - kids design.

The company also announced the appointment of Kathryn Letson to the newly-created position of corporate trend manager. She will provide forward direction to the department regarding colour, style and art on a seasonal basis.

Oshkosh chairman, president and CEO, Douglas Hyde, said: "We are excited to be moving forward with these new design initiatives and continue to be committed to design excellence and are pleased to be building a team to position the company as a premier lifestyle brand."
