The introduction of improved retail information systems and closer relationships with key suppliers contributed to a 68 per cent leap in profit at Pacific Retail Group to $17.4 million.

In the year to 31 March the retailer's total revenues increased 10.4 per cent to $442.2 million.

The Group took over lingerie firm Bendon in April, and is currently compiling a business strategy for the company. Pacific Retail chief executive Peter Halkett said: "Bendon is exciting because it gives us another avenue for growth into the future.

"We see a lot of potential, but there are different paths we can take. We are examining those and we will make our decision within the next couple of months."
