Patrick Cox is to launch a new brand called Cox, which will be available for Spring/Summer 2001, Menswear magazine reported.

"We've taken out the directional pieces from the PCs range and focussed the new collection around six semi-formal loafers in various trims," says UK sales manager Paul Batista. The Cox range is characterised by its lace-up low-profile shapes with longer lasts in a variety of leathers and finishes.

"Cox aims to reinforce the aspirational element of Wannabe. We pulled out of clothing in order to get footwear right," Batista explains. The collection is intended to compete against the likes of Oliver Sweeney and will only be sold through existing Wannabe accounts.
