China is the biggest producer and exporter of dyestuff in the world but the country is still importing a large amount of dyestuff.

Pollution and toxins are two reasons that are holding back the development of the country's dyestuff production.

Domestic-made dyestuff still cannot satisfy the need of home textile production, which means China still has to import dyestuff.

The country has more than 1,100 dyestuff firms producing 200,000 - 250,000 tons of the product every year.

The main exports are reactive, dispersant, acid, basic and direct dyestuff. The import of reactive dyestuff is more than 10,000 tons a year.
