Polo Ralph Lauren has agreed a deal with the US Olympic Committee to be an official outfitter of the US Olympic and Paralympic teams at this year's Beijing Games.

Under the terms of the agreement, the company has designed parade outfits for the US teams to wear at the opening and closing ceremonies, as well as a range of pieces to wear in the Olympic Village.

The parade outfits will not be revealed before the Opening Ceremony on 8 August, but Polo Ralph Lauren said they would "reflect the heritage and sensibility of the 1920s and 1930s, with a tailored and modern silhouette".

Outfits for the Closing Ceremony would reflect a "sportier aesthetic", the company said.

"Polo Ralph Lauren is a quintessential American brand that represents a timeless and classic look which we believe our athletes will be excited to wear," said US Olympic Committee COO Norman Bellingham.

Apparel from the collection will be available for purchase in the US from June.

Selected items will be for sale in Polo Ralph Lauren stores, department stores, online and, in some cases, through the US Olympic Committee website, the company said.
