Rising energy, raw material and fuel costs have prompted two leading polyester fibre firms to increase the price of their products.

Fort Mill, South Carolina based Wellman Inc will raise the price of all Fortrel polyester staple fibre products by US$0.04/lb from 17 August, while Japanese firm  Kuraray is increasing the price of its polyester filament yarn by 5%, or an average of JPY30 (US$0.28) per kilogram, from 1 August.
