French apparel group PPR has entered into negotiations with Alpha Private Equity Fund 6 (APEF 6) for the sale of Redcats' Cyrillus and Vertbaudet children and family clothing brands for EUR119m (US$156m).

PPR said the sale of Redcats' children and family division constitutes a step forward in its restructuring as it works to focus on its luxury and sportswear businesses.

The transaction, which is subject to informing and consulting with employee representative bodies and approval of the competition authorities, is expected to be finalised in the coming months.

APEF 6 specialises in the acquisition and development of medium-sized companies, including spin-offs from large corporations with the support of their management teams.

Last month, the Redcats mail order unit of PPR sold its Sportsman's Guide and The Golf Warehouse businesses, which sells clothing and accessories for outdoor activities including hunting and golf, to Northern Tool + Equipment (NTE) for $215m.
